I would like to express my sincere thanks to my colleagues and fellow members for giving me the opportunity to lead this remarkable Society. I would like to thank my fellow Council members for coming forward to serve the Society.

Our Society is fortunate to have many committed leaders who give of their time and effort without hesitation. Thanks to our immediate Past President Adrian Jacklowsky's efforts, we have successfully hosted the 7th Asian Societies of Cosmetic Scientists’ Conference 2007. The Society has made significant strides in the past four years.

For the future, we have plans to induct more new members into the Society and organise more frequent Tech Talks, meetings and social events. We propose to select venues which are creative and conducive to interaction and learning.

On the public front, we strive to be more pro-active in providing timely information --- to our members, the relevant authorities, the media and the public --- on issues related to cosmetics and cosmetic science.

We will work closely with institutions of higher learning that support our objectives -- by providing assistance to deserving students pursuing further studies in cosmetic science.

The present economic outlook presents many challenges. We all have busy schedule; nonetheless, I appeal to all members to contribute to the Society -- be it your attendance, inputs (e.g. advising the Council of international speakers who could deliver a paper at a Tech Talk) or joining a sub-committee. This is your Society and the SCSS will only thrive with your active participation and personal involvement.

We invite all committed members to serve with us and make this Society vibrant, relevant and meaningful.
